Review: A Harvard psychologist says people judge you based on 2 criteria when they first meet you

I have come across an article on Yahoo, “A Harvard psychologist says people judge you based on 2 criteria when they first meet you,” by Amy Cuddy.  She is a Harvard social psychologist professor.  She says the two criteria are trust and respect.  Can you trust and respect people the first time you them?  I do not think so.  This has to take time for these two qualities to be certain.  Amy Cuddy says people evaluate you from an evolutionary perspective.  That trustworthiness is the most important factor of the two (Trust and respect).  This is due to a survival factor.  Another thing she points out, students, in the case of the articles (MBA interns), concerns too much on being competent(respect factor), that they are likely to skip social events and come off as unapproachable.  This can hurt in the job market.  I am in this same boat.  I am not very social and have been looking to get into my field for over two years.  To me, I think companies in the field I went to school for, clinical research, are overlooking me.  I do not have that trust factor, but the respect factor.  I have B.S. and M.S degrees in clinical research.  That is why I have turned to the internet to look for ways to make money.  It is hard to work at Wal mart to pay back loans.  Anyways, most people that I have accounted say I am trustworthy person.  I do not believe you can tell someone is trustworthy and respectful in a first encounter.  To learn more about the article, go here:  http://finance.yahoo.com/news/harvard-psychologist-says-people-judge-153500132.html
